About us
Artistic Disorder creates workshops that are thoughtful, hands-on and a little unexpected.
Based in the Perth Hills and delivering programs across Perth, regional Western Australia, and beyond, we work with libraries, councils, schools, festivals, community organisations and private groups to deliver creative and educational experiences.
Our workshops combine making, learning, critical thinking, and connection. Depending on the program, that might mean art, history, sustainability, STEAM, mindfulness, organisational skills, practical craft, or playful experimentation. Sometimes all at once.
We design workshops that feel welcoming, well-run and genuinely engaging, whether audiences are children, teens, adults, seniors, or all of the above.
Every workshop we run is inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to LGBTQIA+ and disability communities.
We believe the workshops should never be about just filling time.
They help people experiment with something new, learn a skill, connect with others, make a mess, solve a problem, laugh unexpectedly and leave with a renewed sense of confidence.
We strive to create community connections as we deliver creative workshops across Perth and regional WA.

Meet the founder
Artistic Disorder was founded by Shayde Douglas.
Shayde brings experience across libraries, community development, youth work, disability advocacy, parenting support, health promotion and social inclusion, alongside a long-standing creative practice.
This combination of community sector and information services experience means the workshops are designed with lifelong learning, creativity and people in mind. She has a special love for library programming and has decades of experience designing and facilitating library and museum programs across Australia.
The people making the strange things happen

We deliver creative workshops in Perth and across WA for organisations looking for quality programming that is interesting, inclusive and easy to organise.
Programs can be booked as one-off events or as part of a larger calendar, festival, or community engagement strategy.
We regularly run:
One-off boutique experiences are also available on request. If you need something tailored, we can collaborate and design around your audience, budget or theme.
